Comfortable, low-temperature heat

Underfloor heating warms a room evenly from the floor up and runs at low water temperatures, which makes it an ideal partner for an air source heat pump. It is most straightforward in extensions and new floors, but retrofit systems with low build-up now make it practical in many existing rooms.

What the survey covers

• Existing floor construction and whether the build-up and door thresholds can accommodate a system
• Insulation beneath the floor, without which much of the heat goes into the ground
• Room heat loss and whether underfloor heating alone will heat the space, or radiators are still needed
• Floor coverings and their effect on output (tiles, engineered timber, carpet)
• Wet versus electric systems, manifold location, zoning and controls
• Compatibility with your existing boiler or a planned heat pump

A room-by-room feasibility report with a recommended system type, design flow temperature and floor build-up that your builder or heating engineer can work from.
