Build tight, ventilate right

As homes are insulated and draught-proofed they hold on to moisture from cooking, bathing and breathing. Without adequate ventilation that moisture shows up as condensation on windows, mould in corners and stale air. Ventilation is also a requirement of PAS 2035 whenever insulation measures are installed.

What the survey covers

• Existing extract fans, cooker hoods, trickle vents and whether they actually work and are used
• Measured humidity and signs of condensation or mould in each room
• Background ventilation and air paths through the home
• The right strategy: intermittent extract, continuous mechanical extract (dMEV), positive input ventilation (PIV) or mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR)
• Duct routes, unit locations and electrical requirements
• Compliance with Building Regulations Part F

What you receive

A ventilation strategy for the whole house with a specification that an electrician or ventilation installer can price. Where mould or damp is already present, the survey links with our damp and condensation service.
